2 days to go...(10.09.2008)

Be forewarned - no pictures to post, so hopefully this isnt too boring! Last night, the weather looked threatening, so we decided to postpone the playground/pizza date until next week sometime. Kevin and I still decided to go with the pizza idea. I had 2 slices of mushroom pizza and a garden salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette. It was goood.

Kevin and I got our LAST run before the marathon in last night! We did a 3 mile run - easy pace and both felt strong. It makes my stomach flip flop to think about the race on saturday, but I know we are going to do great. The plan is to meet up with my father (who is running in the 2nd leg of the relay) around mile 15 and then he is going to pace us (get us through) the rest of the way to the finish line. He is the one that trained us for this over the past 5-6 months (and has over 50 marathons under his belt), so it will be great to have him there for support!

I am also excited because Bridget, who works at my coffee shop (High Grounds) is planning to to make signs for us and have the Rocky theme song playing when we run by her family's house around mile 16. She does this every year for the marathon! Kevin's family and my family will also be out supporting us, so it will be great to have all these people rooting us on! We are wearing shirts provided by my cousin of FireMonkeyRun, so Kevin will be in a gray under armour sponsored by Blue Sky Factory and I will be in a black under armour sponsored by Obsidian Realty.

We are going to pick up our race packets tonight and then go meet my parents for dinner at Carrabba's. I havent been there in years, but am looking forward to checking out the menu today! Tonight is going to be our biggest pasta/carb load and then tomorrow, we will eat a little lighter portion of pasta. Dont want to be weighed down on saturday!

The problem I have is that when I get nervous, my stomach is in knots and it makes it hard for me to eat. It started this morning and I had to force down breakfast:

almond butter/fig jam on whole wheat potato roll
banana
skinny caramel latte

Not hungry for any sort of snack yet, but know I need to eat. Off to try and eat my yogurt now!

Good luck with the marathon. I am doing the half (this is my 4th one this year), but I had knee surgery 2 months ago, so I will probably have to walk a bit.

Wow your Dad sounds amazing! My Dad just ran his first 5k in April me (he actually beat me, but that's not the point)You are very lucky to have a cool Dad like that though!

Carrabas has alot of great pasta dishes! Jsut watch out for the bread, its addicting and you might not be able to stop eating it :)
