Marathon and Food Pics (11.10.2008)

Finally got the pictures uploaded and thought I would keep the words to a minimum since I wrote a looong recap earlier today...

Pre-Race Dinner (ww cheese ravioli w/ turkey meatballs and squash)Pre-Race Breakfast (ww eggo with almond butter and fig jam, a banana)Bridge that was destroyed by ice (thought it was a cool picture)Kevin and I - before the raceDad and I - ready to startThe starting lineRunning through the cityPath along the river - this is where the wind was horribleRed, pained face, dealing with the wind (sorry it is blurry)Not the prettiest scenery...Almost there...Done!! (Notice the bagel and PB in my hand!)Picked up a ton of these at the racePost-race meal...Frisco Grille in Columbia, MD. This place is awesome. We made the hour and a half trip back in order to have this Mexican food! They even have tofu burritos here - never had one, but I thought it was cool!

Queso dip to start...perfect.Chicken tacos on corn tortillas with rice and beans11.10.2008 - DAY AFTER

Breakfast - (oatmeal, skim milk, dried cranberries, almonds, almond butter, 1/2 banana, drizzle maple syrup)Lunch - (buon giorno salad with grilled shrimp. walnuts, cranberries, feta, cukes, balsamic vinaigrette)Pre-Dinner- I had a avocado that was ready to use, so I mixed it with some lime juice, salt, and a squeeze of cilantro paste. It tasted delish with corn tortilla chips. My mom and grandmom made this homemade apple butter over the weekend...
I had to try a bite and it tastes amazing!Dinner - (veggie burger on ww english muffin w/ hummus and a side of brussels w/ bacon)Dessert - (THIS STUFF IS AMAZING)I am going to hobble over to the couch and LAY. My legs and back are killing me. Hope everyone has a great night!

What is that you are wearing after the race?

I love when people run with their dads. It makes me so happy for some reason!

Love the pictures, thanks for sharing. :D

jenngirl/ the cherry pecan balance bar was just OK, in my opinion. It tasted a little fake to me for some reason and I wanted more chunks of pecans!

hangrypants/I am wearing a mylar wrap they gave everyone after the race - it is supposed to keep you warm. and it actually really does help!

That looks like some good recovery food! Hopefully all the healing nutrients will be kicking in soon so you're not quite as hobbly. Your dad must be SO proud of the fact that you run marathons-- unfortunately my dad's not a runner, and I think he might be thrilled if we could do one of the things he enjoys together. Unfortunately I stink at golf....
